Our name, Punarnava, is derived from the revered Ayurvedic herb known for its properties of inner cleansing, rejuvenation, and reconnection. True to its name, our resort embodies the essence of this herb, providing a sanctuary for guests to restart, relieve, and recharge their lives amidst nature's splendor. Our Story

Punarnava holds a place among the top five-star resorts in Dehradun, representing a charming mix of Panchtatva wellness and Vedic Vivah philosophy. Established in October 2018, Punarnava was built on the ideals of "Panch Tatwa" and "Rejuvenate, Refresh, and Reconnect." Located in the Himalayas with the grandeur of dense forests in the Mussoorie Hills, Punarnava Resort & Spa is only 10 km away from Dehradun and Mussoorie, rendering a perfect getaway from the modern-day-rushed living and well-synced with the sacred land of Shiva.

Acharya Ashish Semwal gave birth to Punarnava. Acharya Ji at the very young age of 22 attained deep enlightenment after a relentless pursuit of absolute truth. A world was envisioned by him where joy as pure as morning birdsong would be felt by the people, vibrancy equal to blooming flowers would be enjoyed, and an infinite sense of freedom like a bird in the sky would be theirs. His deeper wish was for people to exclaim in simple terms of wholehearted acceptance of beauty in life and nature a big “yes". Driven by this promise, Acharya Ji started to seek out locations conducive to such meditation and pockets of divine grace. His spiritual journey brought him to a peaceful little village of Bhtarli, surrounded by deep green, lush Himalayan forests almost touching the distance of Mussoorie. Here he found the perfect ambience for meditation, alongside his dream of one day letting the world share the beauty of nature. The very high spiritual energy from the area and the soothing sound of the flowing waters along the peaceful surroundings left Acharya Ji deeply touched. He was equally enchanted by a historical cottage and a sustainable eco-friendly walking path built with locally available materials, in strict adherence to traditional Vastu Shastra principles. Having found this subject matter interesting, he tapped on the knowledge of the older folk in the village with their stories. The elders informed him that it was this very place which a British scholar, known as "Firangi Baba", had discovered during the British regime in the 1940s.The scholar was said to have frequented the place for spiritual healing, yoga, meditation, and self-discovery. Acharya Ji's friend, Mr. Abhijit Verma, came to see him and tell his life-altering story. After completing his Master's program from the National University of California, he occupied a very high-stress corporate position, the exertion of which took a toll on his health. His body reacted to this high stress and mental strain, got diagnosed as suffering severely from heart disease, with just 10% function of the heart. The only thing that saved him was the heart transplant he got. Consequently, Acharya Ji began chanting mantras and praying for Abhijit after learning of his friend’s ordeal. By the grace of God, Abhijit recovered and is living well. Impassioned by the tranquility of the environment, Acharya Ji established Punarnava Wellness, a premier health resort focusing on the integration of mental, emotional, and physical well-being for holistic health. Punarnava is a real paradise on this earth, right in the land considered sacred to Shiva. Punarnava, true to its philosophy, has sought to welcome the traditions of "Vedic Vivah" and the "Panch Tatva" (Five Elements). Accordingly, a vortex for these energies-a temple named ast Purnishwar Temple-will be established to anchor spiritual energy in the region and strengthen the resort's commitment to holistic healing.
